چکیده

A potential source of high energy neutrinos is the annihilation of Weakly Interacting Massive Particles (WIMPs) collecting in gravitational potential wells such as the centers of the Earth, the Sun, or the Galaxy. A search for such a WIMP annihilation signal using the Super-Kamiokande (SuperK) detector is presented. Super-K observes 1.1 upward throughgoing muons per day. These events are caused by high energy (typical Eν ∼ 100 GeV) νμinteractions in the rock under the detector, and are generally consistent with the expected flux from atmospheric neutrinos. No enhancement of the neutrino signal due to WIMP annihilation is seen, so upper limits on the possible flux of WIMPS are set. These limits are compared to those from other such indirect searches, and a model-independent method is used to compare the Super-K results with direct-detection WIMP experiments.

An indirect search for WIMPs in the Sun and the Earth using upward-going muon events in Super-Kamiokande

We present the result of an indirect search for high energy neutrinos from WIMP annihilation in the Sun and in the Earth using upward-going muon events at Super-Kamiokande. Datasets from SKI-SKIII (3109.6 days) were used for the analysis. We looked for excesses of neutrino signal from the Sun and the Earth as compared with the expected atmospheric neutrino background in three types of upward-go...

Study of capture and annihilation of a few GeV WIMPs inside the Sun by using an underground neutrino detector

Dark matter has an enigmatic invisible existence contributing most of the gravity in the universe. Weakly interacting massive particles (WIMPs) are favored as particle candidates for non-baryonic cold dark matter, since their interaction strength can explain the thermal relic abundance of dark matter. Recent event excesses or annual modulation signals reported by direct detection experiments su...

Direct and Indirect Search for Dark Matter

Direct and indirect searches for dark matter (DM) particles are discussed. The search for a diffuse signal from DM annihilation in the Milky Way is presented using the atmospheric neutrino data from Super-Kamiokande-I, -II, -III. The analysis focuses on the model independent scenario with DM particles annihilating directly into pairs of neutrinos and antineutrinos. No signal contribution is all...

Search for bosonic superweakly interacting massive dark matter particles with the XMASS-I detector.

Bosonic superweakly interacting massive particles (super-WIMPs) are a candidate for warm dark matter. With the absorption of such a boson by a xenon atom, these dark matter candidates would deposit an energy equivalent to their rest mass in the detector. This is the first direct detection experiment exploring the vector super-WIMPs in the mass range between 40 and 120 keV. With the use of 165.9...
